2027 Kawasaki Z900: Same ₹9.99 Lakh Price, Two New Colours, and Who Should Buy

The 2027 Kawasaki Z900 has been launched in India at ₹9.99 lakh ex-showroom, exactly the same price as before. Autocar India, HT Auto and others reported the launch on October 28, 2026, with deliveries expected to start the same day.

The only change is the paint. Kawasaki has replaced last year’s two colour options with two new ones and left the engine, chassis and electronics untouched.

That makes this a quiet update, but an important one for buyers. Holding the price at under ₹10 lakh keeps the Z900 as what Autocar India calls the most accessible litre-class motorcycle in India. Here is what has changed, what has not, and whether it is the right big Kawasaki for you.

What is new on the 2027 Kawasaki Z900?

Just two colours:

  • White with a green frame
  • Grey with a black frame

They replace the model year 2026’s candy lime green with a grey frame, and black with a gold frame. Both of the old options have been discontinued.

Everything else carries over, including the ex-showroom price. Autocar India points out that Kawasaki has managed to hold the ₹9.99 lakh price despite the GST revision. Autocar India reported in August 2026 that bikes above 350cc now attract 40% GST, which has pushed many big-bike prices up.

What did the 2025 update bring?

The big changes came a year earlier. For model year 2025, Kawasaki redesigned the Z900 with sharper “Sugomi” styling and a much better electronics package.

According to Autocar India, that update added a new 5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, cornering-sensitive ABS and traction control, and cruise control. All of that is carried over for 2027.

So if you have been waiting for a meaningful update before buying, it has already happened. The 2027 bike is mechanically the same as the 2025-2026 model.

2027 Kawasaki Z900 vs Z1100: which should you buy?

Kawasaki India now sells two big Z naked bikes. The 2027 Z1100 costs ₹12.79 lakh ex-showroom, according to Autocar India and Kawasaki India, which is ₹2.8 lakh more than the Z900.

Autocar India also points to the Honda CB1000 Hornet SP at ₹13.29 lakh as a Z1100 rival, which shows how much of a price gap the Z900 enjoys at ₹9.99 lakh.

For most riders, the Z900 makes more sense. 124hp is already more than enough for Indian roads, and the ₹2.8 lakh saving covers riding gear, insurance and a good chunk of running costs. The Z1100 is for riders who want the extra 12hp and 14.4Nm, a bi-directional quickshifter as standard and a bigger-engine feel. Autocar India lists the Z1100 at 220kg with a 17-litre tank, so it is also a heavier, more touring-friendly machine. We covered it in detail in our 2027 Kawasaki Z1100 price and specs story.

How does the Z900 fit Indian roads?

On paper, the Z900 is a good match for Indian conditions if you ride mostly on highways and open state roads. The cruise control helps on long expressway runs, and the cornering-sensitive ABS and traction control add a safety net on patchy surfaces and in the rain.

City riding is the harder part. Any inline-four throws out a lot of heat in slow traffic, and that is something to check on a test ride in your own city, ideally in the afternoon. Riders who spend most of their time in heavy traffic may be happier with a lighter twin.

What about the KLE650 and Versys 900?

Kawasaki has had a busy October. Globally, it revealed the Versys 900, a tall-roader that MCN says uses the same 948cc inline-four as the Z900. Kawasaki has not confirmed an India launch for it yet. Our story on the 2027 Versys 900 and its India prospects has the details.

Kawasaki also revealed the KLE650 adventure bike on October 27. It uses the 649cc twin rather than an inline-four, and it targets a very different rider. We first reported on it when it appeared in an approval listing, in our Kawasaki KLE 650 story. Again, there is no India date.

If you want touring comfort or broken-road ability, it may be worth waiting for those. If you want a fast, comfortable street bike today, the Z900 is on sale now.

What does it cost to own?

Kawasaki has not published official service costs for the Z900, so we will not quote numbers. But a few honest points are worth keeping in mind.

An inline-four needs more care than a twin, and tyres for a 124hp bike wear faster, especially the rear. Insurance for a litre-class bike also costs much more than for a 400cc machine. Before you buy, ask your dealer for a written estimate of the first three services and a quote for comprehensive insurance.

Fuel economy will depend heavily on how you ride. Spirited riding on a four-cylinder engine drops efficiency quickly.

Also budget for good riding gear if you are moving up from a smaller bike. A full-face helmet, jacket, gloves and boots rated for higher speeds are worth more than any accessory on the bike itself.

Who is the Z900 for?

The Z900 suits experienced riders moving up from a 400-650cc bike who want the sound and smoothness of an inline-four without paying ₹12-15 lakh or more. The adjustable suspension, cruise control and cornering rider aids also make it more usable than older bikes in this class.

It is not ideal for beginners. 124hp demands respect, and the bike’s weight and heat in city traffic can be tiring. A first-time big-bike buyer is better off building experience on a smaller twin.

Should you buy the 2026 or 2027 model?

They are mechanically identical, so the choice comes down to colour and price. If a dealer still has 2026 stock in the old colours and offers a discount, that is a sensible way to save money. If you prefer the new white-and-green or grey-and-black schemes, buy the 2027 model at the same ₹9.99 lakh.

One small point on resale: a 2027 model-year bike may hold its value slightly better later, simply because of the newer year on the papers.

CarBike Insight Analysis

This is a smart move by Kawasaki. Holding the price under ₹10 lakh, after a GST change that has pushed many big bikes up, keeps the Z900 as the easiest way into a four-cylinder naked bike in India.

The downside is that there is nothing new to talk about beyond colours. Rivals that offer fresh tech may look more exciting, but the Z900’s 2025 update means it is not outdated.

Who should buy now? Experienced riders who want a four-cylinder naked bike at the lowest possible price. Who should wait? Riders more interested in adventure or touring, who may be better served by the KLE650 or Versys 900 if Kawasaki brings them to India.
