Zero Project Ventura: An Electric Supermoto Under $8,000, Due in Summer 2027

The Zero Project Ventura is a lightweight electric supermoto that Zero Motorcycles revealed at EICMA 2026 in Milan, with a target price below US$8,000 in the US and below GBP 8,000 in Europe. Zero says a production bike inspired by it will be available in summer 2027.

It is the most affordable street motorcycle Zero has previewed so far, and it is aimed at new riders, including A1 licence holders in Europe. Motorcycle News flagged the bike at 9:46 AM IST on November 3, and Zero’s full release followed that evening, with Electrek and Visordown reporting at about 9:00 PM IST.

Key numbers such as battery capacity and charging time are still missing. Here is what Zero has confirmed and why the bike matters to Indian riders too.

What is the Zero Project Ventura?

The Zero Project Ventura is a production-intent electric street motorcycle with supermoto-inspired styling, 17-inch cast wheels, road tyres and an upright riding position. It makes over 20 kW of peak power, can carry a passenger, and has an onboard charger. Zero is calling it a project because final details may change before summer 2027.

Zero says it wants feedback from riders who see the bike online and at EICMA, along with input from dealers, before it locks the final design. The company describes Ventura as “approachable, but not underwhelming”: easy enough for a beginner, with enough performance that experienced riders will not outgrow it quickly. Standard equipment confirmed so far includes ABS, Bluetooth and connection to Zero’s new smartphone app. Zero has not shared weight, seat height or suspension details, which will decide how friendly it really feels for shorter and newer riders.

The bike also comes at a symbolic moment. Zero marks 20 years in 2026; it was founded in California in 2006 and moved its headquarters to the Netherlands in October 2025.

Zero Project Ventura specifications

ItemZero’s projected figure
Peak powerOver 20 kW (about 27 hp)
Sustained top speed105 km/h (65 mph)
Momentary top speed130 km/h (81 mph)
Real-world range150 km (93 miles) in Europe; 75 miles on Zero’s English story page
Wheels17-inch cast, road tyres
ABSStandard
ChargingOnboard Level 2 AC charger
Battery capacity, charge timeTo be announced
LicenceA1 in Europe, M in North America
Price targetUnder GBP 8,000 (Europe), under US$8,000 (US)

The sustained-versus-momentary speed split is unusual. It suggests Ventura can briefly reach 130 km/h for an overtake, but it is designed to cruise at around 105 km/h rather than hold highway speeds for long.

How far can the Zero Ventura go on a charge?

Zero’s European release quotes an estimated real-world range of 150 km (93 miles), and Electrek reported the same figure. However, the Project Ventura story on Zero’s own website lists 75 miles, or about 120 km. Zero has not yet published battery capacity, so treat both numbers as projections until a final figure appears.

That gap matters, because range is the first question most new electric riders ask. Without the battery size, it is impossible to judge efficiency. What is confirmed is the charging: the onboard Level 2 charger means riders can plug into public AC posts without carrying a separate charger, something many small e-motorcycles skip to save cost and weight.

How much will the Zero Ventura cost?

Zero’s target is under US$8,000 in the US and under GBP 8,000 in Europe. At November 4 exchange rates, that is about Rs 7.59 lakh and Rs 10.18 lakh respectively, before local taxes, duties and charges. These are price targets, not final prices, and Zero has not announced any Indian pricing or launch.

For context, Visordown notes that a sub-GBP 8,000 price puts Ventura below many conventional middleweight motorcycles. Zero’s pitch is that it can be the next step for people who already ride e-bikes or small e-mopeds. Premium electric motorcycles have struggled to sell in volume, as our report on LiveWire’s going concern warning explains, so a lower price is a big shift for the segment.

What else did Zero show at EICMA 2026?

Alongside Ventura, Zero gave the LS3 scooter its European debut, with three onboard batteries totalling 5.6 kWh, up to 120 km/h and up to 150 km of range, due in spring 2027. The XE off-road bike becomes street-legal worldwide, and a new Zero app is planned for 2027.

Zero is also targeting DC fast charging in 2027 for compatible Street and Dual Sport models in North America and Europe, aiming at 20 to 80 percent in under 30 minutes. Reports say European bikes will use CCS and North American bikes NACS, with a retrofit for some existing models in development.

Does the Zero Project Ventura have an India connection?

Yes, through Hero MotoCorp. Hero announced a US$60 million investment in Zero in September 2022 and expanded the partnership in March 2023 to co-develop premium electric motorcycles. Hero’s VIDA brand showed Project VXZ, developed with Zero, at EICMA 2026. Ventura itself has not been announced for India.

The financial side has cooled. Mint reported in July that Hero’s stake was diluted from 6.9 percent to 0.8 percent after a funding round it did not join, and Hero wrote down the investment’s value. Hero says the technology partnership remains in place, and Rushlane reports that Project VXZ returned at EICMA with a belt drive, charging inlet and digital cockpit, but no launch timeline.

CarBike Insight Analysis

The Zero Project Ventura is Zero’s most important bike in years because it targets volume, not halo buyers. A supermoto shape, a two-up seat, onboard charging and a sub-US$8,000 target give it a realistic chance with commuters and new riders in Europe and the US.

The weak spots are the missing numbers. Without battery capacity, charge time and weight, Ventura cannot be compared fairly with petrol rivals such as the Ducati Hypermotard V2, which sells the same supermoto fun with no range worries. The range conflict between Zero’s own pages also needs fixing.

For India, the story is the Hero link. Electric two-wheeler demand here is growing fast, as our October 2026 electric two-wheeler sales report shows, but it is driven by scooters. Our view: if Hero ever brings a Zero-based motorcycle here, a Ventura-style bike at a sharp price would make far more sense than a big premium model.

FAQ
