Tesla is giving the Model 3 another round of updates as the electric sedan enters a new phase of its life. The latest changes focus on technology, performance and everyday usefulness rather than a complete redesign. For buyers, the result is a Model 3 that remains familiar but gains several features that could make it more competitive against newer electric sedans.
The timing is important for Tesla. The Model 3 remains one of the company’s core vehicles, while Tesla is trying to rebuild momentum in its automotive business. The company delivered 486,532 vehicles globally in the third quarter of 2026, beating analyst expectations, although deliveries were still slightly below the same period a year earlier.
For anyone searching for the Tesla Model 3 Model Now update, the biggest developments include a larger central display on updated versions, improvements to performance and range on selected trims, and Tesla’s expansion of Powershare functionality to newer Model 3 vehicles.
What Is New With the Tesla Model 3?
The latest Model 3 continues with the basic formula that has made the sedan important to Tesla. It combines a relatively low-slung body with a minimalist cabin, rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, over-the-air software updates and access to Tesla’s charging ecosystem.
The newest updates are more evolutionary than revolutionary.
Tesla has expanded the Model 3’s technology package, with updated versions receiving a 16-inch central display in the U.S. market. The Performance model also receives changes aimed at improving its appeal to drivers who want stronger acceleration and a more distinctive interior.
The changes come at a time when competition in the electric sedan market is becoming more intense. Tesla is no longer competing mainly against traditional petrol-powered cars. Buyers can now choose from electric models from established automakers as well as newer EV manufacturers.
Tesla Model 3 Range and Performance
Range remains one of the Model 3’s strongest selling points.
Tesla’s current Australian Model 3 lineup lists a rear-wheel-drive version with a 572 km WLTP range, a 201 km/h top speed and a 0-100 km/h time of 6.2 seconds. The same market also lists Premium versions and the Model 3 Performance.
Tesla’s official India Model 3 page currently shows different international specifications depending on configuration. It lists up to 750 km WLTP for the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive version, although Tesla clearly states that the vehicle shown is an overseas model and that the Model 3 is not available to order in India.
That market difference matters. Tesla’s range figures vary according to battery, wheels, software configuration and testing cycle, so readers should avoid comparing numbers from different countries as though they were identical.
Model 3 Performance
The Model 3 Performance remains the enthusiast-focused version.
Tesla’s India site lists:
- Dual-motor all-wheel drive
- 460 hp peak power
- 0-100 km/h in 3.1 seconds
- 528 km WLTP range
- 20-inch wheels
- Performance-focused suspension and brakes
- Track Mode
- Carbon-fibre interior details
- Ventilated sport seats
Tesla also lists adaptive damping, performance brakes and specific aerodynamic changes for the Performance model.
The latest U.S. update is reported to increase Performance output and range further, with Tesla’s North American communication pointing to 528 hp and a range figure of around 316 miles for the updated version.
A Bigger Screen Changes the Cabin
One of the most visible changes is the larger central touchscreen.
The Model 3 has always relied heavily on its central display, using it for navigation, vehicle settings, entertainment and many functions that traditional cars normally operate through physical controls.
The move to a 16-inch display gives the latest version more screen area while keeping Tesla’s minimalist dashboard philosophy.
The Model 3 also retains a separate rear display on applicable configurations. Tesla’s current specifications list a 15.4-inch centre touchscreen and an 8-inch rear touchscreen for the Model 3 configurations shown on its India website.
The larger screen is not simply a specification upgrade. It reinforces Tesla’s approach of making software a central part of the ownership experience.
Tesla Model 3 Can Now Help Power a Home
One of the more interesting recent developments is not inside the car at all.
Tesla has expanded Powershare functionality to newer Model 3 vehicles in the United States and Puerto Rico. Tesla says all new Model 3 and Model Y vehicles ordered in those markets from October 1, 2026 are capable of Powershare when used with a compatible Powerwall system.
With a compatible home-energy setup, the Model 3 can provide energy from its battery to help extend home backup during an outage.
Tesla estimates that Model 3 Standard and Model Y Standard vehicles can provide up to two days of extended backup, while Premium and Performance versions can provide more than two days under its stated assumptions. Actual backup time depends on household electricity consumption, battery charge and the home’s energy system.
This is an important development because it changes how an EV can be viewed.
The Model 3 is no longer only a transportation device in a compatible Powershare setup. Its battery can become part of a home’s energy system.
However, this feature is market and hardware dependent. It should not be assumed that every existing Model 3 can perform home backup.
Tesla Model 3 Charging
Charging remains central to the Model 3 ownership experience.
Tesla’s India specifications list Supercharging capability of up to 250 kW for certain configurations and say the car can add up to 311 km in 15 minutes under Tesla’s specified testing conditions. Actual charging speed depends on the vehicle, battery temperature, state of charge, charger and other factors.
Tesla also emphasizes that range and charging performance can vary with factors such as speed, weather, elevation, battery temperature and Supercharger type.
That qualification is important because advertised range should never be treated as a guaranteed real-world driving distance.
What About the Tesla Model 3 in India?
For Indian buyers, there is an important limitation.
Tesla’s official India website currently says the Model 3 is not available to order in India and identifies the vehicle shown as an overseas model.
That means there is currently no official Indian Model 3 purchase price that should be presented as a confirmed figure.
Tesla’s India website does allow visitors to get updates, but buyers should distinguish between a market page and an actual confirmed sales launch.
This also means that specifications shown on Tesla’s India website should not automatically be interpreted as specifications of a future India-market car.
Why the Model 3 Still Matters
The Model 3 has become more important to Tesla’s automotive strategy as the company’s product range changes.
Tesla’s third-quarter 2026 deliveries showed that Model 3 and Model Y remained central to the company’s vehicle business. Reuters reported 486,532 total deliveries for the quarter, while other reporting noted that Model 3 and Model Y accounted for the overwhelming majority of deliveries.
That makes the latest Model 3 updates more significant than they might initially appear.
Tesla does not necessarily need to redesign the sedan every few years. Instead, it can keep updating software, displays, powertrain performance and connected features.
That approach is increasingly common across the EV industry.
CarBike Insight Analysis
The most interesting part of the latest Tesla Model 3 update is not one individual specification.
It is the direction of the product.
Tesla is gradually making the Model 3 more than a conventional electric sedan. Software remains important, performance continues to improve on higher trims, and Powershare gives compatible cars a role in home energy management.
At the same time, Tesla needs to keep the Model 3 attractive while competition is increasing.
The bigger screen and performance improvements are relatively easy for buyers to understand. Powershare is potentially more significant over the longer term because it connects the vehicle to Tesla’s broader energy ecosystem.
For Indian buyers, however, the story remains one to watch rather than an immediate purchase decision. Tesla’s official India website still says the Model 3 is not available to order locally.

The Bigger Picture
The latest Tesla Model 3 Model Now update shows how Tesla is keeping one of its most important EVs relevant without completely changing its identity.
More technology, stronger Performance variants and the arrival of Powershare make the Model 3 more versatile. But market availability remains just as important as specifications.
For now, the Model 3 continues to be a key Tesla product globally, while Indian buyers will have to wait for an official local launch before price, specifications and availability can be judged properly.
