The Harley-Davidson X350T has been spotted in India without any camouflage, and the name on the fuel tank says it all. Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson appear to be shrinking their 440cc roadster to fit under the 350cc line that now decides how much tax a motorcycle pays.
Rushlane published the spy shots at 4:30 PM IST on October 29, 2026, and it was the only English report we could find when we checked that evening. Neither Hero nor Harley-Davidson has said anything officially yet.
Here is what the photos show, what is still a guess, and why this small change in displacement could mean a big change in price.
What is the Harley-Davidson X350T?
It looks like a downsized version of the X440T, the sportier top version of the X440 that Hero and Harley launched in December 2025. The bike in the photos has “X350T” printed on the tank next to the Harley-Davidson lettering, a new orange colour and new graphics.
Hero builds the X440 range in India for Harley-Davidson. The original X440 arrived in 2023, and the X440T followed with a reworked rear end, ride-by-wire, ride modes and switchable traction control.
The X350T name should not be confused with the Harley-Davidson X350 sold in China. That bike is made with QJ Motor, uses a liquid-cooled parallel twin and costs CNY 33,388 there (around ₹4.77 lakh, according to Rushlane). The India X350T is a different machine.
Why would Harley shrink a 440cc engine?
The answer is tax. Under GST 2.0, which took effect on September 22, 2025, motorcycles up to 350cc pay 18 percent GST. Bikes above 350cc moved to the 40 percent slab, up from an effective 31 percent earlier.
That gap is huge for a bike priced under ₹3 lakh. Several makers have already responded. Triumph moved its 400 range to a 349cc engine in April 2026, and Rushlane notes that Bajaj announced downsizing across its own range and the KTM and Triumph bikes it builds. Even bikes like the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z sit in a class now shaped by that 350cc line.
Hero and Harley had held on to 440cc until now. The X350T suggests they are giving in.
What did the spy shots show?
Apart from the name and paint, the X350T looks identical to the X440T. According to Rushlane, the photos show:
- the same main frame and subframe as the X440T
- disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS
- a TFT instrument cluster
- a single-piece seat with a step between rider and pillion
- upside-down front forks and twin rear shocks
- all-LED lighting with a round headlight
- a flyscreen and a wide handlebar
The colours are reported as Black, Red, Orange and Military Green. The X440T is currently offered in Vivid Black, Pearl White, Pearl Blue and Pearl Red.
Harley-Davidson X350T vs X440T: what changes?
| Item | Harley-Davidson X440T (on sale) | Harley-Davidson X350T (spied) |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 440cc, air-oil-cooled single | Around 350cc (expected) |
| Power | 27.3bhp | Around 25bhp (Rushlane’s estimate) |
| Torque | 38Nm | Around 35Nm (Rushlane’s estimate) |
| Gearbox | 6-speed | Not confirmed |
| Suspension | 43mm KYB USD fork, twin rear shocks | Same hardware seen |
| Brakes | 320mm front, 240mm rear disc, dual-channel ABS | Discs at both ends, dual-channel ABS seen |
| GST slab | 40% | 18% (if under 350cc) |
| Price | ₹2.79 lakh at launch (Dec 2025) | Not announced |
The X440T specs come from its December 2025 launch reports. Rushlane now lists the X440T at ₹2.86 lakh ex-showroom.
Harley-Davidson X350T: confirmed vs not confirmed
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| X350T name on a test bike | Seen in spy shots (Oct 29, 2026) |
| New orange colour and graphics | Seen in spy shots |
| Same frame, brakes, suspension as X440T | Seen in spy shots |
| Engine size around 350cc | Expected from the name, not confirmed |
| Power and torque | Not announced (Rushlane’s figures are estimates) |
| Electronic throttle body | Reported by Rushlane |
| Launch “in the coming weeks” | Reported, not confirmed by Hero or Harley |
| Price | Not announced |
One detail needs care. Rushlane says the X350T adds an electronic throttle body. But India Today’s launch report says the X440T already switched to ride-by-wire last year. So this may simply carry over, rather than be new.
What does a smaller engine mean for riders?
We have not ridden the X350T, so we cannot say how it feels. But Triumph’s move gives a useful clue about what downsizing usually does.
When Triumph cut its Thruxton 400 from 398cc to 349cc in April 2026, NDTV reported that power dropped from 42PS to 40PS and torque from 37.5Nm to 32Nm, with peak torque arriving higher in the rev range. Triumph also cut the Thruxton’s price by almost ₹11,000 at the same time.
If the X350T follows a similar path, expect slightly less pull at low revs, which is the part of the X440 that owners like most in city traffic. Highway cruising should still be comfortable, because the bike’s gearing, weight and riding position are unlikely to change much.
The good news is that the rest of the package stays. The X440T’s ride modes, switchable traction control, switchable rear ABS and panic braking alert are the features that set it apart, and the spy shots suggest the X350T keeps the same hardware. Hero has not confirmed the electronics list yet, so check the spec sheet at launch.
How much could the X350T cost?
Nobody has announced a price, and Rushlane only says lower pricing is expected. We can, however, do some simple maths on the tax.
If a bike’s pre-tax price stayed the same, moving from 40 percent GST to 18 percent would cut the final price by roughly 16 percent. On a ₹2.86 lakh bike, that would be around ₹45,000. This is our calculation, not a forecast. Ex-showroom prices also include other costs, and Hero could choose to keep some of the saving or add features instead.
The bigger point is that the X350T could bring the Harley badge much closer to the price of a Royal Enfield Classic 350, the bike everyone in this class is chasing. We compared the Classic with Triumph’s new retro in our Bonneville T40 vs Classic 350 story.
When will it launch?
Rushlane says the launch is expected in the coming weeks. Hero has not confirmed a date. It is worth remembering that Harley-Davidson is also preparing the Sprint 440 cruiser, which Rushlane reported has entered production on the same day. Our Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 buying guide covers that bike.
It is not yet clear whether the X440T will stay on sale alongside the X350T or be replaced.
CarBike Insight Analysis
This is a sensible move, even if it feels a little like a step backwards. The X440 was built around a big, torquey single, and that was part of its character. A smaller engine will lose some of that pull, although Rushlane’s estimated drop is small.
The trade-off is price. The 350cc class is the biggest premium bike segment in India, and the Harley badge has never been this close to it. If Hero passes most of the tax saving on to buyers, the X350T could sell in far bigger numbers than the X440T.
Who should wait? Anyone planning to buy an X440 or X440T in the next month or two. A cheaper version with the same frame and features could be weeks away. Who should not wait? Riders who want the full 440cc torque for touring with a pillion. If the X440T is dropped, it may become harder to find.
