Maruti Suzuki October 2026 Sales: Record 2.76 Lakh Units as Exports Jump 59%

Maruti Suzuki October 2026 sales reached 2,76,120 units, the highest monthly total in the company’s history. The figure, published on November 1, is 25% higher than the 2,20,894 units Maruti sold in October 2025.

It is also the first time Maruti has crossed 2 lakh domestic sales in a single month. Festive demand, new GST-led affordability and a big jump in exports all helped.

Here is the full breakdown, the models that drove it, and the two problems Maruti is still working on: CNG supply and shipping.

How big were Maruti Suzuki October 2026 sales?

Maruti Suzuki October 2026 sales totalled 2,76,120 units, made up of 2,16,789 domestic sales including light commercial vehicles, 9,459 units sold to other carmakers and 49,872 exports. Domestic sales rose 20% from 1,80,675, and total sales were up 25% year-on-year.

Production also hit a record, rising about 35% to 2,60,003 units, according to Maruti’s monthly production filing.

Which Maruti models sold the most?

Maruti did not publish model-wise numbers in its release, but company officials named the WagonR, Baleno, Dzire, Ertiga and Brezza as the main contributors. The Brezza alone sold 24,736 units and still has a waiting period of about four to six weeks, according to senior executive officer Partho Banerjee.

The Brezza has been one of Maruti’s steadiest earners for years; it recently crossed 15 lakh cumulative sales. The Dzire is another backbone model and has passed its own 35 lakh production milestone.

Banerjee told NDTV Profit that SUV sales hit an all-time monthly high of 73,058 units, while small car sales grew 38% year-on-year to 40,646.

Why did small cars come back?

Small cars came back because they became more affordable after the earlier GST rate cut, and festive offers pulled in first-time car buyers. Maruti’s mini, compact and mid-size car segment rose about 18% to 1,00,877 units. That is a sharp turn after several years in which buyers drifted towards SUVs.

Banerjee said Maruti achieved the record despite a high base, because last October was already boosted by the GST change. That makes this year’s growth more meaningful than a simple festive bounce.

Why did Maruti’s exports jump 59%?

Maruti exported 49,872 cars in October, up from 31,304 a year earlier, a rise of about 59%. Part of the jump came from shipments delayed in earlier months, senior executive officer Rahul Bharti said. He added that shipping remains difficult, with the West Asia conflict disrupting alternative routes.

For April to October, Maruti’s exports total 2,82,727 units, up about 18%. Exports are now a major pillar of its business, with models such as the Fronx and Jimny sold in many overseas markets.

Why are CNG buyers still waiting?

CNG buyers are waiting because Maruti cannot build CNG cars fast enough. The company sold about 87,000 CNG cars in October, roughly 40% of its sales, but supply constraints limited deliveries. Banerjee said Maruti plans to increase CNG capacity from January 2027, and that supply limits could still affect November sales.

If you are booking a CNG Maruti now, ask the dealer for a written delivery estimate. Petrol versions of the same model are usually available sooner.

How does Maruti’s financial year look so far?

Maruti’s financial year is running well ahead of last year. From April to October 2026, it sold 16,55,498 units, up about 27% from 12,99,629. Domestic passenger vehicle sales rose about 33% to 12,92,624, utility vehicles grew about 40% to 5,53,479, and exports climbed about 18% to 2,82,727.

Small cars did even better over the seven months than in October alone. The mini, compact and mid-size segment reached 6,51,971 units, up about 31%, which shows the recovery is not just a festive spike.

The one segment going backwards is sales to other carmakers, which fell to 55,722 from 67,778 over the same period. These are mostly cars Maruti builds for Toyota, so the drop reflects Toyota’s own plans rather than weak demand for Maruti models.

What does Maruti’s record mean for buyers?

For buyers, a record month means strong demand and less room to bargain. Maruti reported about 2.45 lakh pending bookings and only 12 days of dealer stock, so discounts on popular models are likely to shrink. Buyers of the Brezza and CNG versions should expect waits, while less popular variants may still carry offers.

The good news is that Maruti is running its plants hard. Higher production should shorten waits for petrol models through November and December.

The festive season also ends soon, which matters for timing. Dealers usually push year-end offers in December to clear stock before the model year changes, so buyers who are flexible on colour and variant may get a better deal by waiting a few weeks, as long as they are not set on a CNG model.

CarBike Insight Analysis

October’s record is a reminder that India’s car market is still Maruti’s to lose. Rivals also had big months, including Hyundai’s record 82,299 units, but Maruti sold more than three times as many cars.

Two things stand out. First, small cars are growing again, which supports Maruti’s long-held view that India still needs affordable hatchbacks. Second, exports are close to 50,000 a month, which makes Maruti more exposed to global shipping problems than ever.

The weak spot is CNG. With 40% of sales coming from CNG and capacity not rising until January, Maruti is leaving sales on the table. Every month of delay also gives rivals such as Tata and Hyundai, which also sell CNG models, a chance to win buyers who do not want to wait. Banerjee also said the industry could cross 5 lakh monthly sales in FY27; industry reports suggest October’s passenger vehicle wholesales already passed that mark.
