2027 Zeekr 7X: 500kW Flagship, 627km Range and the Same Price in Australia

The 2027 Zeekr 7X has arrived in Australia with more power, a little more range and extra standard equipment, but no price rise. Orders opened on November 1, and Zeekr says the first cars will reach customers from December.

The 7X is Zeekr’s mid-size electric SUV and a direct rival to the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7. Every version gains 25kW, the flagship now makes 500kW, and the Long Range RWD claims up to 627km on the WLTP cycle.

Here is what changes, what stays the same and what the update tells us about Chinese EV pricing outside China.

What is new on the 2027 Zeekr 7X?

The 2027 Zeekr 7X gets 25kW and 80Nm more across the range, a built-in dashcam and rear privacy glass as standard, revised exterior styling, a redesigned centre console and new colours. Prices stay at A$57,900, A$63,900 and A$72,900 before on-road costs for RWD, Long Range RWD and Performance AWD.

Outside, the front air ducts are redesigned, the active grille shutter is narrower and the rear diffuser is new. The rear number plate moves onto the tailgate, and the automatic door button has been repositioned.

The RWD and Long Range RWD ride on 19-inch silver alloys, while the Performance AWD gets 21-inch forged wheels.

How much more powerful is the 2027 Zeekr 7X?

Both rear-drive models now make 335kW and 520Nm, and the Performance AWD makes 500kW and 790Nm. That cuts the RWD’s claimed 0-100km/h time from 6.0 to 5.6 seconds, the Long Range RWD’s from 6.0 to 5.5 seconds and the Performance AWD’s from 3.8 to 3.7 seconds.

Those are big numbers for a family SUV. Even the entry model is now quicker than many petrol hot hatches. For most buyers, though, the extra power will matter more for easy overtaking than for launch times.

Range gains are small. The Long Range RWD adds 12km over its previous 615km claim, the RWD gains 2km and the Performance AWD just 1km.

How fast does the 2027 Zeekr 7X charge?

Zeekr quotes peak DC charging of up to 450kW and a 10-80% charge in as little as 11 minutes. The Australian car keeps an 800V electrical system rather than the 900V technology announced for the Chinese-market 7X. Zeekr has not published separate charging figures for each variant, so the best times may apply only to some versions.

Those claims also need a sufficiently powerful charger and the right battery temperature. Few public chargers in Australia deliver anything close to 450kW today, so real-world times will usually be longer.

What changes inside and in standard equipment?

Inside, the centre console gets moved cupholders, an extra storage compartment and a revised armrest, plus a suede headlining. Every version has a 16-inch touchscreen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip and a 13-inch driver display. The new standard dashcam uses the car’s cameras to record driving and monitor it when parked.

The RWD has leather-free upholstery, a 12-way power driver’s seat with memory, heated front and rear seats, tri-zone climate control and 10 speakers. The Long Range RWD adds Nappa leather, ventilated and massaging front seats, a fridge, an augmented-reality head-up display and 21 speakers. The Performance AWD adds air suspension and automatic doors.

Size is unchanged, with a 2,900mm wheelbase and a 539-litre boot that grows to 1,978 litres with the rear seats folded. The Performance AWD also has a 66-litre front boot.

Safety equipment includes seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, lane-keeping assistance, forward collision warning and mitigation, front and rear cross-traffic assistance and a surround-view camera. None of that is new, but it means even the cheapest 7X is well equipped for family use.

Is there a launch offer?

Yes. The first 2,000 orders placed from November 1 get free choice of paint and trim colours, two years of servicing and a home wallbox, plus 5,000 Zeekr app points and small gifts. Introductory offers run until December 31. Zeekr has not said whether wallbox installation is included, so buyers should ask before signing.

A Black Edition Package for the Performance AWD adds Onyx Black paint, black trim, black Nappa leather and 20-inch black wheels. Its price has not been announced.

Colours change too. A two-tone Tech Grey with a black roof is now a no-cost choice on the Long Range RWD and Performance AWD, alongside Onyx Black, while Crystal White, Forest Green and solid Tech Grey cost extra. The high-voltage battery warranty runs for eight years or 160,000km, covering capacity falling below 70%.

Customers already waiting for an outgoing 7X can keep their order or ask their retailer about switching to the updated model. That choice is worth thinking about: the old car may be easier to negotiate on, while the new one has more power, the dashcam and better resale prospects.

CarBike Insight Analysis

The 2027 Zeekr 7X follows a pattern we keep seeing from Chinese brands: more power and more kit at the same price, rather than a price cut. It puts pressure on the Model Y without starting a price war.

The 800V decision is the interesting detail. Australia gets a more powerful car but not the newest 900V charging hardware, which suggests export models trail China by a generation in some areas.

Australia is becoming a key test market for Chinese brands, as our story on iCaur’s Australian rollout shows, and Zeekr is adding the 7GT wagon and 8X and 9X plug-in hybrids during 2027.

For Indian readers, the 7X is not on sale here, and the Model Y remains the closest rival; see our Tesla Model Y EMI explainer. Chinese brands are also moving into Europe, as with the XPeng G9L, so expect similar “more for the same money” updates there.
